PATH purchased 44 PA-2 cars from the St. Louis Car Company in 1966. These are very similar to the PA-1 cars also purchased from the St. Louis Car Company one year prior. Like the PA-1 cars, PA-2 cars have two doors per side and a painted aluminum exterior.
Cars #710–723 are "A" cars with a cab at one end. Cars #152–181 are "C" cars with no cab.
Along with the PA-1 and PA-3 cars, the PA-2 cars were overhauled in the mid-1980s by Morrison Knudsen.
Car #160 was part of the train left at the World Trade Center station on 2001-09-11. This car was recovered and is stored out-of-service, stripped of useful parts.
