New Jersey Transit rostered four SW1500s at its peak, 500–503. 500 and 501 have been retired from service; they are rumored to have been sent out to MPI as parts donors for the GP40FH-2 switcher conversions. 502 is still chugging away, alternating between the MMC and Hoboken. After being damaged in a sideswipe at the MMC, 503 was sold to HLCX and from there to the Chicago Terminal Railroad.
