History

NJT-1 began life in 1926 as a CNJ Blue Comet car, #1178, the "De Vico". In the 1980s, it was upgraded by Conrail, at which point it was renumbered NJT-1. NJT used the car in track inspection service and for ceremonial activities. It was retired in 1993, and in 2003 was donated to the UHRS.
